VTB Bank and Gazprombank have signed an interhost connection agreement on joint use of ATMs as part of the drive to create a Russian national card payment system.
The interhosting connection covers access to ATMs operated by Gazprombank and VTB Group subsidiaries VTB24, Bank of Moscow and Leto Bank. Work is also underway to create a similar connection for merchant accounts.
VTB Group operates more than 12,000 cash machines, including those of partner banks, while Gazprombank has about 5,000.
«An interhost connection between VTB Group and Gazprombank is a big step towards creating a national card payment system, which I believe will ensure stable, high-quality services for our clients in Russia ».
Deputy President and Chairman of VTB Bank Management Board
VTB Group currently has interhost connections with more than 50 banks. The process is supervised by the group’s processing centre, MultiCarta Ltd.
