VTB to finance Vodokanal in Irkutsk

20 August 2014

VTB to finance Vodokanal in Irkutsk.

VTB Bank has signed a credit agreement for RUB 500 million with Irkutsk’s Municipal Unitary Enterprise (MUP) Vodokanal to help it build, maintain and upgrade its fixed assets.

Mikhail Oseevskiy, Deputy President and Chairman of VTB Bank Management Board, said: “Under its programme of investment into Irkutsk’s water supply and disposal systems for 2011-2015, MUP Vodokanal is planning several measures to be funded both from the company’s own resources as well as borrowings.

“VTB Bank has supported the plans to modernise Irkutsk’s oldest public utility company. I am sure that this project will help develop the town’s municipal infrastructure and improve the quality of life of local residents.”

Irkutsk’s Municipal Unitary Enterprise Vodokanal was established in March 1992, but its real history began in 1903, when it was decided to build the city’s first water pipeline. The company provides water supply and water disposal services; it also builds and maintains engineering equipment and installations. Vodokanal operates 746 kilometres of water pipelines and 718 kilometres of sewerage networks. It also controls two water intake facilities, 23 water pumping installations, 36 sewerage pumping installations, three artesian wells, two water and wastewater treatment facilities, 465 street water intakes, and 23 clean water reservoirs holding a total of 82,500 cubic metres.
