The Supervisory Council of the Bank acts under applicable Russian law, the Bank`s Charter, Regulation on the Supervisory Council and other VTB Bank by-laws. The Supervisory Council decides on general matters of the Bank`s activities, including its development strategy, except for those falling within the terms of reference of the General Shareholders Meeting under applicable Russian law and the Charter.

Independent member of the Supervisory Council Managing Director, Nord Stream AG (Switzerland). Since 2006 – Managing Director of Nord-Stream AG (Switzerland).

Previously held positions:
2005-2006 – Chairman of the Board of Directors, ZAO Dresdner Bank.
2004-2005 – Chairman of the Management Committee, Dresden Kleinwort for Russia and the CIS.
2002-2005 – President of ZAO Dresdner Bank in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
2000-2002 – Chief Coordinator of the Dresdner Bank Group in Russia.
1999-2000 – General Director of the St. Petersburg Office of BNP – Dresdner Bank, later ZAO Dresdner Bank.
1997-1999 – Deputy Director of the Moscow Branch of BNP – Dresdner Bank.
From 1990 – different positions at Dresdner Bank, including Advisor to the Management Board, Head of Trade Finance Division.
1981-1990 – officer at the Ministry for Foreign Trade and Cabinet Council of the German Democratic Republic, and Main  Intelligence Directorate; in 1989 retired as major.

Born in 1955.
In 1981 – graduated from the Higher School of Economics (Berlin) majoring in "National Economy".
