VTB Bank acted as sponsor of the Ninth Moscow Easter Festival devoted to the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory. The forum, which went beyond Moscow and St. Petersburg, will be held from 4 April to 9 May in more than 30 cities of Russia and the CIS.
The Festival was founded by the initiative of Valery Gergiev, Mariinsky Theatre Conductor and Opera Company Director, Yuri Luzhkov, Major of Moscow, and with the blessing of His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. This feast of music became a very significant event in the Russian cultural life and follows the tradition of Easter Music Forums held all over the world. A diversified and intensive program with the participation of world stars makes the Festival a culminating point of the Music season in Moscow. In 2003, supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Moscow Easter Festival gained the status of All-Russian.
This year the symphonic program includes the brightest world stars such as Denis Matsuev, Swedish Radio Chorus, Jordi Savall orchestra “Le Concert des Nations”, Nelson Freire, Mario Brunello, Ekaterina Gubanova and others. On 4 April, the Great Hall of the Conservatory hosted the performance of the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra headed by maestro Valery Gergiev.
The Chorus program of the Festival includes groups from Russia, Ukraine, as well as choruses from the Republic of Belarus, Abkhazia, Armenia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Greece. Under the program more than 20 charitable concerts are to be held in Children’s Houses, Asylums, Homes for Disabled Persons and Veterans and other social institutions.
The audience of the Ninth Moscow Easter Festival will be able to see two premiers, in particular, “The Mystery of Paul the Apostle” (on 14 April, the Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall, St.Petersburg) and “Anna Karenina” ballet (on 15 April, the Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall, St.Petersburg).
The program includes the Easter ringing of bells, comprising 46 largest temples and the Petropavlovsk Cathedral of St. Petersburg.
Forreference:It was very symbolic for VTB to become a general sponsor of “War and Peace” production of Prokofiev within the framework of the Festival devoted to the 60th anniversary of the Victory Day. Since that time the Bank has been annually supporting the Festival comprising an increasing number of regions that contributes to further development of VTB Group sponsorship and patronage policy.
