On 22 April 2010, VTB delegation headed by Andrey Kostin, President and Chairman of VTB Management Board visited Ukraine. VTB Head met with Nikolay Azarov, Prime Minister of Ukraine and Sergey Tigipko, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine. The parties discussed a wide range of issues regarding investment cooperation of the companies and financial institutions of both countries. Besides, members of the delegation took part in the events devoted to the 5-year anniversary of VTB operations in Ukraine.
Commenting on the results of the visit, Andrey Kostin said: “5 years ago we had the honor to open VTB Bank in Kiev in the presence of presidents of Russia and Ukraine. Today, I’m very pleased to celebrate a 5-year anniversary of VTB business in Ukraine again against a backdrop of historic decisions made by the heads of our countries. Ukraine can be definitely called a key region of VTB activity. Over the 5 years of its operations, VTB reached tangible results and was included in the top Ukrainian banks”.Striving to improve Russian-Ukrainian relationships VTB Group intends to enhance its operations in Ukraine contributing to financial market development. “We believe that the prospects of growth for financial and banking sectors of Ukraine are very favorable and here we have enough room both for local and foreign players, including Russian and western ones”, said Andrey Kostin. VTB Group development strategy stipulates both organic growth and possible acquisitions in the local market aimed at effective business development. In addition to corporate and retail segment, VTB plans to develop investment banking in Ukraine.
