For the first time ever, VTB Bank has acted as official sponsor of the 22nd Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships held from 16 to 18 July in Wroclaw, Poland.
More than 200 athletes from 25 countries took part in the competition: 14 men’s pairs, 10 women’s pairs and 22 mixed pairs.
Favorites among men were two Russian pairs, including Konstantin Pilipchuk / Aleksey Dudchenko and Dmitry Ivanov / Maksim Ivanov. The title was contested between Russia and the United Kingdom in the finals. As a result, Konstantin Pilipchuk / Aleksey Dudchenko won a silver medal. In the women’s pairs competition, Katerina Sitnikova / Anastasiya Melnichenko from Ukraine won a gold medal, and Anzhelika Pikhulina / Anastasia Sokolenko from Russia won bronze. The category with the largest number of athletes, mixed pairs, had to face the toughest competition, with the UK men team emerging as winners. The Chinese and Russian athletes won silver and bronze, respectively.
VTB has traditionally been active in providing financial support to Russian sportsmen representing our country on a global scale. With this aim in view, VTB has been supporting sport federations, national teams, sport clubs, including the Russian Basketball Federation, the All-Russian Volleyball Federation, the Russian Box Federation, the Federation of Artistic Gymnastics of Russia, the International Federation of Gymnastics, the International Judo Federation, the International Athletics Federation and others.
