On 26 September 2010, supported by VTB, the State Kremlin Palace will host an international gala-concert Stars of the XXI Century, the main event for ballet world to be held in Russia for the first time.
The world famous classical dancers will appear on the stage, including Diana Vishneva (the Mariinsky Theatre), Lucia Lakarra (the Bavarian State Ballet, Munich), Svetlana Lunkina (the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia), Alina Kozhokaru (the Royal Ballet, London), Natalia Osipova (the Bolshoi State Theatre of Russia), Dorothee Gilbert (the Paris Opera Ballet), Mathilda Fruste (the Paris Opera Ballet), Farukh Ruzimatov (the Mikhailovsky Theatre, St.Petersburg), Johan Cobborg (the Royal Ballet, London), Matthieu Gagneau (the Paris Opera Ballet), Marcelo Gomes (the American Ballet Theatre, New York), Alessio Corbone (the Paris Opera Ballet), Marlon Dino (the Bavarian State Ballet, Munich), and Andrey Merkuriev (the Bolshoi State Theatre of Russia).
Alessandro Safina, the Italian tenor, the world opera star, will be a surprise special guest. Before the concert the audience can see the display of pictures Children of Russia Draw Ballet from Moscow art schools.
As a tradition, all participants will be awarded with a ballet Oskar prize called Brilliance of the 21st Century. A unique feature of the concert will be an international prize Ballerina of the Decade awarded for the first time in the world ballet.
The Ballet Stars international project was launched in 1993 in Toronto. Nowadays, it’s the world’s prestigious ballet gala-concert. The project repertoire includes both classical ballet dances, and modern performances of the best choreographers. Rolan Petit, Yekaterina Maksimova, Carla Fracci and Vladimir Malakhov have been project consultants for many years. For over 17 years of gala-concert existence, more than 300 ballet dancers from 40 world troops participated in the program. Since 1998 the concert has been annually held in Toronto, Paris, and since 2000 – in New York.
