VTB Bank has become the first Russian bank to get a legal status of a Strategic partner of St. Petersburg. On 22 September 2009, at the meeting of the St. Petersburg Government, Valentina Matvienko, the Governor, presented Andrey Kostin, President-Chairman of VTB Management Board, with the Strategic Partner Badge.
This status is given to companies ensuring regular budget revenues and facilitating social and economic development of Russia’s northern capital.
In addition, the St. Petersburg Government meeting put the construction project of “Nevskaya Ratusha” Business Center financed by VTB on the list of strategic investment projects in St. Petersburg.
According to A. Kostin, “VTB Bank has traditionally maintained strong partnership relations with St. Petersburg. A number of large VTB Group development projects, which are vital for the city, have been concentrated here. Among other things, we are participating in financing the reconstruction of Pulkovo airport facilities. It is a major project of international standing in Russia, which can only be implemented with the help of a reliable partner bank. Not least important line of cooperation with the City Government is the construction of “Nevskaya Ratusha” and a multifunctional complex “Naberezhnaya Evropy”. We place special emphasis on these and other projects to be carried out by the Bank in St. Petersburg. Therefore, we are especially proud to have received the honorary title of a Strategic partner, since it highlights a significant contribution made by VTB to the city development”.
