VTB Bank provides guarantee to UOMZ

VTB Bank has issued a RUB 1.87 billon guarantee for Urals Optical and Mechanical Plant (UOMZ) for execution of a municipal contract to design, build and maintain an outdoor lighting system in Nizhny Tagil.

«VTB is a longstanding financial partner of UOMZ, and has provided services to the plant for the last six years.This new bank guarantee will enable the plant to fulfill a major government contract worth RUB 9.37 billion, and will help Nizhny Tagil city hall toimprove local infrastructure and raise local living standards.».

UOMZ (E. S. Yalamov Urals Optical and Mechanical Plant) is one of Russia’s leading defense industry enterprises, manufacturing optical electronic equipment for both military and civilian applications. The company supplies high-tech optronic equipment for aircrafts, for the army and the navy. Its products are used in the on-board radio equipment of airplanes and helicopters of all kinds, including the best models Russia supplies to foreign customers as part of its military technical cooperation with other countries. UOMZ manufactures round-the-clock optronic monitoring and targeting systems for military and civilian applications, such as land surveillance, search operations, identifying and tracking land, air and water surface targets, estimating their coordinates and distance, and targeting artillery shells and non-guided missiles, as well as guided aircraft missiles.

The plant’s civilian technology projects range from medical equipment (including for the rehabilitation and treatment of newborn babies), geodesic equipment such as tacheometers, transit instruments, gradienters and electronic distance measurers, and light technology including traffic lights and street lights.
