VTB Bank and the State Hermitage Museum, Russia’s largest museum, today signed a cooperation agreement in St Petersburg on 5 September 2013. A protocol of intent was signed by Hermitage General Director Mikhail Piotrovsky and VTB Chairman and CEO Andrey Kostin.
Under the agreement, VTB will support the Hermitage’s
«Our decision to work with the Hermitage Museum is driven primarily by the priorities of Russia’s state policy on culture and the arts,” Mr Kostin said. “We have made this decision in view of the museum’s upcoming major milestone, its 250th anniversary in 2014. We are signing the cooperation agreement for three years. I sincerely hope that over that period, with our support, the Hermitage will be able to implement remarkable and impressive projects, which will emphasize its uniqueness and its invaluable role in the cultural life of Russia and the world.»

“Our agreement with VTB forms part of our work on the 250th anniversary events,” Mr Piotrovsky said. “The museum needs serious partners capable of helping it expand its art collections and supporting its work in holding exhibitions. VTB is certainly the right choice here.”
