In the evening of March 10, the "Culture" TV channel started to air "Gogol's Excuse", a documentary filmed with support of VTB Bank. The project is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the renowned writer.
According to creators of "Gogol's Excuse", Nikolay Vasilievich Gogol is one of the most mysterious figures in Russian literature. Legends and myths surrounded him since childhood and his work received ambiguous public opinion. "Gogol's Excuse" is neither the author's biography, nor the analysis of his masterpieces, but a documentary research, an attempt to uncover the truth, to reveal the mystery of Gogol's personality and to unveil the story of his soul. The documentary was filmed in Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland, France, Italy, Germany and Israel.
As Vasily Titov, Deputy Chairman of VTB Bank Management Board, said, "the Bank has traditionally supported attractive cultural projects. We hope this documentary will be interesting both for Gogol's admirers and for a wide audience".
