On 20 March 2007, an exhibition "Meeting with Modigliani" opens in the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. This global project is the first large retrospective exhibition of Italian painter, graphic artist and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) in Russia.
Regrettably, no Russian museum can boast of Modigliani's works in spite of his true fame. It is the first time that his works will be exhibited in Russia. From 20 March to 3 June 2007, Moscow citizens will have a chance to see and appreciate Modigliani's works of paintings, graphic arts and sculptures brought from the largest museums and private collections of the world, such as The Museum of Modern Art (New York), The Art Institute of Chicago, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York), Museum of Art (Basel), Museum of Modern Art (Paris), Art Museum (Jerusalem), Tate Gallery (London), Albertina Museum (Vienna) and others.
Also, participating in the exhibition is Modigliani Foundation (France - Italy) that offers a number of original documents from the personal files of the artist (letters, photos, sketches). On the whole, there are 27 graphic sheets, more than 20 canvases, and "Head of a Woman" sculpture.
It is not the first VTB Bank experience in cooperating with the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. Thus, in 2006, VTB Bank financed an exposition of Art Gallery of Europe and America XIX-XX and in 2005 acquired equipment for a lecture-room of the "Museion" Centre of aesthetic education of children in the Pushkin Museum.
