On September 27-29, 2012, the town of Bolshoye Boldino hosted the 7th International Multimedia Festival "Living Word" with support from VTB. The first festival was held in 2007 in an effort to attract the attention of media representatives to more civilised information dissemination methods. The festival unites and supports journalists and writers who are concerned with the question of civilised media language. The festival is called on to increase the level of responsibility for the language as an element of the Russian culture.
The festival included a contest for television and radio programmes, print articles, online publications and master classes for young journalists. Organisers received about 1,200 works from journalists. Of this number, the 41 best works were selected, and their authors were invited to the festival. Apart from the contest, the programme included Alexander Pushkin verse recitals from the verandah of his home, literary contests and discussions, conversations with famous writers and poets and master classes for journalists.
The festival jury and its guests of honour included Vladimir Pozner, Vladislav Flyarkovsky, Dmitry Bykov, Ksenia Larina, Svetlana Novatorova, Yulia Safonova, Viktor Svintsov, Svetlana Sorokina, Marina Korolyova, Valery Mildon, Anna Kachkayeva and other famous cultural figures, artists, journalists and Russian-language specialists.
