On February 2, the opening night of the Cinderella ballet set to music by Sergei Prokofiev reappears on the New stage of the Bolshoi Theatre after a 60-year pause.
The Bolshoi Theatre again turns to a most significant score of the XX century and presents a basically new choreographic version of the world-famous fairy tale.
Svetlana Zakharova and Sergei Filin are starring in the performance. Yuri Posokhov, choreographer, is the author of the performance and Hans Dieter Schaal, famous German artist, scene designer and architect.
Vneshtorgbank and the Bolshoi Theatre have been maintaining lasting partnership relationship. As a member of the Tutor Board of the Bolshoi, the Bank fosters its promising and innovative undertakings aimed at developing domestic performance artistry. Thus, in 2005 Vneshtorgbank financed the production of one-act ballets such as Tricorn Hat by Leonid Myasin, outstanding Russian ballet-dancer and choreographer, set on music by Manuel de Falla, Augury by Tchaikovski and La Vie Parisienne by Jaques Offenbach.
Last year, Vneshtorgbank also arranged a tour to Armenia for the Bolshoi ballet and orchestra after more than 20-year pause. The Yerevan audience could enjoy Swan Lake and Romeo and Juliet, two best performances of the Bolshoi.
