VTB will continue its close relationship with the Bolshoi Theatre in 2012 and, in particular, will support the opening performance of the Ivan the Terrible ballet to music by Sergey Prokofiev (choreographer Yuri Grigorovich, music director and chief conductor Vassily Sinaisky). Citing Yuri Grigorovich in an interview to vtbrussia.ru, “We’ve just started to work at the ballet. We had a working meeting, and started to recover the stage scenery. The premiere is scheduled for November 2012. Rehearsals will start in September.” Alexander Budberg, Counselor to VTB Bank President-Chairman of the Management Board, and head of Steering Committee of the Bolshoi Theatre Board of Trustees, emphasized that “Striving to support the Ivan the Terrible” ballet, we were absolutely sure of Maestro Grigorovich who is an eminent figure in the world of ballet. Choosing his performances, we cannot but be sure of their success”.
VTB has been on the Board of Trustees of the Bolshoi Theatre since its establishment in 2001, and also is a member of the Bolshoi Theatre Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2002.
Over the past decade, JSC VTB Bank has supported such importance performances of the Bolshoi Theater as “The Sleeping Beauty”, “The Snow Maiden”, “Notre-Dame de Paris”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Symphony in C, “Agon”, “Tarantella”, “Le Tricorne”, “Les Presages”, “Gaite Parisienne”, “Cinderella” and others.
