On April 2, 2008 VTB transferred funds to Speransky Children's municipal clinic №9 (Moscow) to purchase antisiphonal devices for patients of neurosurgical department. Children with hydrocephaly have excessive brain fluid and as a consequence high intracranial pressure harming brain tissues. It results in poor blood supply and nutrition of brain cells and even problematic development of small children. If not treated properly, it may lead to irreversible changes in the central nervous system. One of the methods to treat hydrocephaly is to carry off spinal fluid from a brain ventricle to other organism cavities with help of special bypassing systems. A bypassing system is usually implanted for term of life and continuously evacuates excessive fluid from brain. To control the quantity of the fluid carried off, and maintain intracranial pressure within normal limits it is necessary to implant an extra antisiphonal device. VTB sponsored a purchase of 120 antisiphonal devices, and thus provided the clinic with an annual supply of such medical devices.

On June 30, 2008, VTB Bank transferred funds to 4 oncohematological departments of the Russian children's clinical hospital to purchase anti-fungal medication kansidas. Fungal infections are the scariest threat for the life of patients with blood diseases.  A child can be saved from leukemia but he will die if he does not get an optimal anti-fungal therapy. Today almost all the children in oncohematological departments must get these medications. The medicine fungison is purchased due to government financing, but this medication is very toxic for kidneys and not every patient can tolerate it. Besides, fungison is not always efficient against fungal infections. In order to treat the infections successfully one has to use more efficient and sparing anti-fungal medications like kansidas (kaspofungin), which are not purchased in sufficient volumes by the clinic.

Positive emotions are as important for recovery of the kids as good treatment, that's why meetings with heroes of "Good night, kids!" heroes has become a good tradition of World Without Tears. Khrusha, Stepashka and Mishutka visit small patients, they communicate, play with children, give them good advice, hold contests and concerts.

Children gently get to know the world around and simply have fun with their favorite characters forgetting about their diseases for a while.
